Used Equipment sales show green shoots of recovery

Demand for used large tonnage Automotive Specification Injection Moulding machines has increased to levels not experienced for two years.

Tier 1 and 2 suppliers across Europe and the Eastern Block are gearing up their manufacturing facilities to cope with the increased demand.

GoIndustry DoveBid has received enquiries for Western machines in the 2000 to 4000 Tonne bracket. Specific enquiries are for Husky, Krauss Maffei and Engel. An automotive spec’d machine traditionally has a small shot weight compared to the size of the machine ranging in the 4Kg to 8 Kg range.

David Heaselgrave, Global Head of marketing for Go-Dove says; “the downturn in the markets and the credit crisis hit many Automotive suppliers hard. Two major plants in the UK in ecomold and Visteon have closed reducing the capacity in the marketplace. Once the major vehicle manufacturers had run down their stocks then the Tier 1 and 2 suppliers who remained were in a stronger position with the ability to attract a greater slice of the market. This has led to a shortage of large capacity injection moulding machines. Whilst new machines can be ordered, the lead time in some cases is 12 months and the demand needs to be satisfied now hence an increase in the interest levels in quality used machines”

GoIndustry DoveBid, are the world leaders in the valuation and sale of used Plastic Injection Moulding Machinery with over 25,000 plastic related items sold in 2008 alone.

David Heaselgrave continues; "our primary sales methodology utilising online auctions, combined with our expertise and industry knowledge opens the world up for the sale of major plant and machinery. Our market leading position allows us to target a clients surplus assets at the ‘hot’ buying markets, maximising the return for the seller and facilitating the buyer in the acquisition of quality used plant and machinery. This is a form of recycling. Taking a machine from one part of the world where it is idle or surplus and moving to a region where it can be used fully"

Exchange Auction sales: timely, cost effective & easy to use

Whether you are buying or selling used industrial equipment, GoIndustry DoveBid offers a unique range of regular industry specific auction sales.  The primary industries are: Bio Pharma, Metalworking, Plastics, Aviation, Audio Visual, Transportation, Electronics and Materials Handling.

Clients with surplus equipment primarily from major corporations enter their idle assets into the regularly held sales. A reserve is agreed and the account manager for Go-Dove will ensure a seamless sales process. No need for expensive moving costs, we only require some photographs and a full description and surplus equipment can be sold on the global markets from any location to anywhere in the world.

The frequency of the sales depends on market supply and demand with the most common every two weeks.

The exchange format allows sellers regular opportunities to sell their equipment and buyers know the dates that they can expect to be able to bid on equipment regularly that interests them.

The exchanges are by their nature multi-vendor, each paying a small commission to GoIndustry Dovebid and a contribution towards the sale marketing costs. In this way the vendor gets an excellent sales vehicle on a regular basis at an extremely cost effective price.

Printing and Binding Equipment Exchange auctions (PBX)

GoIndustry Dovebid is continuing to establish an entirely new outlet for sourcing and selling used equipment across the global print industry. Unlike traditional business-to-business auctions, which typically involve one vendor and multiple lots; the Printing and Binding equipment Exchange auctions(PBX), markets items from multiple sellers, enabling those with fewer or more specialist items to take part. GoIndustry mobilise their global marketing expertise to promote the entire event (and individual lots) worldwide ensuring the events are a success with buyers and sellers alike.

“The Printing and Binding equipment exchange auction (PBX)is a new forum for buyers and sellers of print equipment to make mutually beneficial deals. As an established auctioneering house, we successfully pioneered the online auction tool over a decade ago; making the transition into online exchange auctions was the next logical step for us. And for the print industry it makes perfect sense to sell on surplus equipment.” comments Peter Budden, of GoIndustry Dovebid.

The PBX auctions are truly international, attracting buyers from Central Europe, India, South America and Africa. Typically, 50 countries are expected to take part in a PBX auction – giving UK sellers access to the worldwide print marketplace. Buyers can expect to see a whole range of low and high value print equipment at a reasonable price, whilst sellers are guaranteed their reserve price.

“The popularity of PBX is growing as printers seek better and more cost effective ways to source and sell equipment. PBX provides print professionals with the opportunity to sell unwanted machinery. Every printer has a spare machine somewhere in the factory that they can now turn into cash. It’s a win: win situation.” concludes Budden.

Success for first materials handling auction

The first GoIndustry Dovebid online auction together with ShD magazine - which concluded at the end of July 2009 has been successful in its aim to help companies dispose of surplus equipment and machinery. Of the 115 lots submitted, 53 sold above the reserve price. A further 21 attracted bids that didn't quite meet the reserve. Around 50 active bidders participated, from countries including Germany, Pakistan, Macedonia, Egypt, Jordan, Hungary and the UK.

The lots were submitted from a core total of 12 different vendors, one of which was a major OEM which sold 31 of the 38 machines it submitted. The equipment comprised mainly gas, electric and diesel fork lift trucks, and also included items such as some Dexion pallet racking, which went for £3,500 to a company in UzbekistanOverall, this particular sale had over 6,700 page views from around the world. The most popular item viewed was a Cesab SID 60 counterbalance forklift, which sold for £9,000 and was also the highest value item sold on the day. The average sold value across the lots was £1,200.

Peter Budden, our business development manager for the materials handling auction said: "The top four items which received the most bids were diesel fork lift trucks, which suggests the Materials Handling Auction is a great way to sell that type of vehicle, We were very pleased with the wide variety of equipment the auction attracted, and the 'no sale, no fee' model proved popular amongst vendors. We certainly feel the market has a strong appetite for this type of initiative."

The next online auction ends on 23rd September 2009, and the date for submission of lots by potential vendors is 4th September. Many vendors have already expressed an interest in this, based on their achievements in the inaugural event.
