GoIndustry DoveBid Customers - New Lot Closing Process for All North American Online Auctions to Begin on Feb. 1, 2013


Dear Valued Customer,

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing our customers with a safe, easy, and secure secondary equipment marketplace; GoIndustry DoveBid will be changing the lot closing process for all North American online auction events beginning February 1, 2013.

What are the changes to the lot closing process?

Within a given North American online auction; we will be making the following changes to the closing process:

  1. The lot closing process will begin at the same time – 5 pm EST per day.
  2. As part of the lot closing process – bidding will extend 10 minutes every time a new bid is accepted after 5 pm EST until the final winning bid is confirmed.
  3. All online auctions will not have more than 500 lots closing at the same time and will not run for more than three consecutive days per week.  Example: if an online auction sale catalog has 600 lots, the first 300 lots will close at 5 pm EST and the next 300 lots will close at 6 pm EST.

Please note that these changes will affect online auctions only.

What are the benefits to the customer?

This change to the lot closing process is based on feedback from our customers and testing conducted by internal focus groups. The test groups and customer feedback results showed that changing the lot closing process to a block closing format reduces downtime for customer by at least 25%.  As a result, they no longer have to wait for a lot to close in the current staggered process. The survey results also showed that more customers have leveraged GoIndustry DoveBid’s Bid Manager as it allows them to select, bid, and purchase lots in their own personalized desktop auction with real-time updates on lot bidding status.

What is GoIndustry DoveBid’s Bid Manager tool?

Bid Manager is a desktop tool which allows you to keep track of lots you are bidding on or just watching. Once signed-in, Bid Manager is accessible by selecting Bid Manager from the 'My account' section in the top menu

You add lots to the Bid Manger in one of two following ways:

• By bidding - when you bid on a lot it is automatically added to your Bid Manager.

• By watching - when you click the "Watch this" link on the Lot Catalog page.

After bidding has closed, any lots you have won will appear in the Bid Manager's 'Won Lots' page. This is accessible by selecting Bid Manager from the 'My account' section in the top menu, then selecting 'Won lots'.  You can remove lots you didn't win and lots you were watching at anytime.
